One holiday that stands out in my memory is the day trip I took across my own city with a close friend. During a government initiative that opened up our cultural heritage to everyone, the most appealing aspect was that public transportation was provided free of charge, shuttling visitors from one museum to another. This simple convenience enabled us to explore more than four museums in a single day, something I would never have imagined doing otherwise. We set off early in the morning and made our way through various exhibitions, snapping photos and pausing for coffee and conversation between stops. The museums were bustling with people of all ages, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. Everyone seemed to share the same curiosity as us, which made the experience even more enjoyable. What truly made this day unforgettable was the realization that despite having been born and raised in Beirut, I knew very little about its history. It felt as though I was viewing the city from an entirely new perspective. This experience also highlighted how much a city can offer when access is made easy and inclusive for everyone. By the end, we were physically exhausted, but it was a satisfying kind of tiredness. Honestly, I would gladly do it all over again. This holiday was memorable not only for the new places I discovered, but also for the deeper appreciation it gave me for my own city, something I had never expected to gain from a single day out.
