We meet during one of our speaking classes and we quickly become friends because we both love learning new languages and talking about different cultures. Lina is really friendly and open minded even though her background and traditions are different from mine. We understand each other very well. We often hang out after class, go for coffee or sometimes watch movies together. She also taught me a few simple Chinese phrases and I helped with her practice Uzbek and English in return. What I liked most about her is that she always shares interesting stories about Chinese festivals and the customers like the spring festival or the moon festival. Listening to her makes me feel realized how rich and colorful her culture is. I really enjoy spending time with her because she is positive, kind and curious about the world. Talking with her has helped me grow out of my horizons and became more interested in learning about other cultures. It’s amazing how friendship can connect people from completely different backgrounds.
