One person immediately pops into my mind and that person is Scott Powell. Now Scott is a dear friend of mine. He is a 67 year old man from Chicago. I met him one and a half years ago. I met him around one and a half years ago. So I was in an English literature club actually and he was one of the organizers and he had this free club for students to help them get more comfortable with their English and to express themselves more. And we had this four month long club. It was really enticing. It was very interactive. We learned so many new things. He taught us a lot about his culture. We talked about ours, we had a strong connection and even after we finished this program we stayed in contact and it was very different for me especially having somebody much older than me and much wiser than me be this close to me and we have been in a lot of contact. We message each other almost every other day. We share political things. He’s been an outfit for me to express some political opinions and to share some of my beliefs because unfortunately I don’t have that much freedom here and we have a lot of fear of sharing these things because of our country’s political situation. So he’s been a great outlet for me. I’ve been able to help him as well with certain things. I’ve helped him set up a filter classes in the club to help other people who are participating in it as well. And we have grown closer and closer as days go by. And I know him, I know his wife, his wife is called Annie, I know his dog. His dog’s called Cookie. She is old and weird, but he loves her dearly. And we share our love for food, we share our love for eating new people and cultures. And if I ever get the chance to visit Chicago, I would love to actually see him in person. He didn’t bite.
