one of the most interesting places I have ever visited as a tourist is Hoi An ancient town which is in central Vietnam not far from Vietnam. I went there last year with a couple of friends during our summer vacation. Hoi An is famous for its well preserved old buildings, colorful lanterns and peaceful streets. When we first arrived I was really impressed by how charming and quiet the town was. Especially compared to bigger cities like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City the streets are narrow and most of the buildings have painted yellow with wooden shutters giving their place a very traditional and warm feel. During our trip we were around the old town, visited ancient temples and houses and enjoy local food like Gaolau or Banh Mi. One special experience were the lantern festival where we lit small paper lanterns and released them into the river at night. It was a beautiful moment and felt very peaceful. What made Hoi An so interesting for me was the mix of culture, history and scenery it felt like stepping back in time and I learned how friendly the local people were. It’s definitely a place I would like to return in the future.
