I can remember that when I was in high school, our school had some charity schemes that were compulsory for all the students with no payment. Many children were reluctant and unmotivated about these programs. We never violated this rule because we were only children and we had no power or authority. It was an obligatory program to socialize the children and improve their communication skills, but we had no motivation or determination to do unpaid activities. The most important issue, I think, is that these types of programs should be voluntary, and by this way the school could be sure about students' motivation and determination. Moreover, having such activities in the students' CVs could attract a university admission officer or an employer in the future.
