She has proud many times with her achievements in boxing. I first came to know about her through the Bollywood movie Mary Kom. It was released in 2014 with Prankajopla playing her role. The film showed her struggle, the lack of facility she faced in her life in a village, and she balanced her career with her family life. After watching the movie, I became curious and read more about the real journey. I was truly inspired. She is a six-time world champion and also an Olympic bronze medalist. She has won almost every major title in boxing and received many prestigious awards like Rajiv Gandhi, Kailat Naan, Padma Vibhushan. From her interviews, I came to know that despite all of her studies, she is very humble and grounded. She is a mother of three and still managed to continue her boxing career at the highest level. The reason I admire is only because of her medals, because of her determination and preserve ends. She came from a small village with limited resources and her dreams for me. Maricom is just not a successful athlete but also a role model who shows that dedication, courage and nothing is impossible.
