I remember when I was in 9th grade, I got my first phone. Before that, I had an iPad, which I could use to play games, watch YouTube videos, or movies. But I couldn't contact my friends because it didn't have a SIM card. And also, the school group chat was on my brother's phone. I used to contact my friends by calling them, sharing notes, and getting information about school and studies through the school group, which was on my brother's phone. My brother, when he got admitted to college, I had limited access to his phone as he was mostly in college. He was also starting to get annoyed by my friends calling his phone. So, he discussed it with my parents, and they agreed to buy me a phone. It was an iPhone 5. The phone wasn't in very good condition, and it didn't have the latest advanced features because my parents thought I was too young to have a personal smartphone. So, they bought me the least advanced model available at that time. The phone was very useful to me, though, because now I could personally contact my friends without asking my brother. Also, all my information on the school group was now readily available on my phone. Moreover, I could now play games more freely.
