At the time when I was ill, I had dengue back in class 6. It was a very brutal time for me. I felt very weak, I felt very bad, and I felt very sick. I was not at my best at all. I was in very bad shape at that time, I would say. It lasted for 10 to 15 days, and those days were very tough for me. I was not very old at that time; I was around 12 or 13 years old. So that made it even more difficult being a kid. As you all know, dengue is a disease that is transmitted by mosquito bites. It is not something that passes from one person to another. It occurs due to a bite from the Aedes mosquito. If you want to confirm if you have dengue or not, you cannot just use a thermometer like you would for a fever. You have to go to the hospital and take a blood test, and then they will analyze that blood test and check your platelet count. According to that platelet count, they will confirm if you have dengue or not. The platelet count decreases in dengue. So the symptoms of dengue include a lot of weakness, digestion issues, frequent vomiting, dizziness, and nausea. In order to determine if you have dengue, you have to undergo constant blood tests. They use needles for blood tests, and we all know that they draw blood with a needle. As a kid, needles were very scary for me. The fact that I had to go to the hospital and have needles inserted to take blood from my hand constantly just to check my platelet count was very difficult. If you are diagnosed with dengue, you have to go to the hospital regularly for blood tests to monitor your platelet count and see if you are cured. That was very harsh for me, I would say. However, I don't fear needles anymore because I had to go through them a lot. But I am good now.
