So as a person who studied hydraulic engineering, I believe that I have a strong background to discuss such a topic. And all of my ideas are strengthened with a lot of evidence and data. Whereas my dad views it from traditional perspective, and I also believe that the social media hyperbole affected him to some degrees. So, our opinions were quite polarised and the crux of our disagreement was if Algeria facing now an imminent water scarcity. So I argue that our nation is one of the most nations vulnerable to water stress. And we should be cautious about how we consume water, especially in the large scale agriculture. And I suggested to try to pivot into the industrial economy because industries, they don’t consume water as agriculture. And the revenues from it are tremendously high, so we can buy our needs from food through these revenues. However, my dad was frustrated and he was thinking that I’m throwing our food security away and we have massive underground aquifers that can sustain our needs of water. So I tried to explain to him that there are some alternative solutions like this alienation of water.
