So when it was time for me to enroll in university, I had this huge argument with my mother. At that time, I wanted to study architecture for my university degree. My mom and I didn't see eye to eye on that. She specifically thought that there were no career prospects for artists in Libya. Even though she's a supportive person who has really pushed and inspired me throughout my life, she didn't agree with my decision to study art. We continued to argue about this situation for around two weeks, and things got heated once in a while. We had some emotionally charged arguments, and it felt like we were reaching a dead end sometimes. I really have potential in engineering, as I like mathematics and I'm generally good at most subjects in STEM. However, I didn't feel it was my passion back then. In the end, my father acted as the intermediary in this argument and helped us find a compromise. We agreed that I would study architecture, which is actually a mixture of both. It combines engineering and art. At that time, this profession had major potential in Libya. So, we met each other somewhere in the middle, and it was an experience that really enlightened me about the potential of resolving disputes and misalignment through communication.
