So when it was time for me to enroll into university, I had this huge argument with my mother. So at that time I actually wanted to do architecture for my university degree. And my mom and I didn’t really see eye to eye when it came to that. She specifically thought that there are no career prospects for artists in Libya. So even though she’s a supportive person that have really pushed me and inspired me throughout my life, she really didn’t agree with my decision to study art. We continued to argue about this situation for around two weeks and stuff got heated once in a while. We actually got into some emotionally charged arguments and it felt like we’re just reaching a dead end sometimes. Like, I really have potential in engineering as I like mathematics and I’m generally good at most of the subjects in STEM. However, I didn’t feel it was my passion back then. At the end, my father acted as the intermediary in this argument and he helped us find a compromise at the end.
