The significant challenge I can think of is my time as a newly hired TA, or teaching assistant. When I first got hired, my department had no TAs left; all of them resigned to go to another college, so I had the full responsibility of four TAs combined. I momentarily collapsed under pressure because it required a lot of expertise, readiness, and skills. I struggled a lot with public speaking at first, and it was a skill that required a lot of rehearsing and training, and I had no time to rehearse or train in a safe environment. I had to go and follow students and teach. So, I worked hard to elevate my public speaking skills. I watched a lot of videos and practiced a lot at home. I really had no help from anyone, no guidance sadly, but it really elevated my sense of self and my confidence that I overcame this challenge on my own. It made me feel capable of tackling any challenge from now on since I could overcome being publicly humiliated in front of students and survive. I think any other challenge will be less hurtful.
