Alex and I have been close friends since high school and we have always in an open and honest relationships and one day I a few years ago I found out that his girlfriend had been unfaithful to him. I accidentally saw her in a cafe with another man and accidentally it to me to my surprise a mutual friend review that it had been going on for a long time. At first I was torn and I didn’t want to be the bearer of the bad news and I was afraid that telling him would hurt him deeply but at the same time I knew that keeping it from him would be even worse. After debating with myself for a few days I decided to be upfront with him. I invited him out for coffee and gently broke the news to him. I made sure to be as sensitive as possible emphasizing that I was telling him because I genuinely care for him and I didn’t want him to be in a relationship built online. His initial reaction was a mix of disbelief and sadness. I can see a deep pain in his eyes but after the shock or were off he actually thanked me for my honesty. He said that although it was hard to hear he appreciated knowing the truth rather than continuing to live in ignorance. In the end he confronted his friend, his girlfriend and they broke up. Looking back I think that this moment strengthened our relationship even more because it reinforced the trust between us. This experience taught me that
