I’m currently working as an adjunct lecturer at the Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology, also commonly known as BUET, which also happens to be my alma mater. It was established in the 1950s, making it one of those universities that was established in Bangladesh during the Pakistan era. And that is reflective in the architecture that was used to build this university. If you go inside BUET and check out any of these buildings, you will find big spacious buildings with massive rooms that are built to accommodate a rather large number of students. And the buildings also have very high ceilings with fans placed at significantly distances from each other. So this is very similar to most Pakistan architecture that you’d see in Bangladesh. If you go inside BUET and check inside the buildings, the common things you’re going to find other than the fact that there are numerous classrooms is the labs. We have different departments and different sort of labs, but all buildings in BUET have a significant number of labs where we take the session on classes or the lab classes for our students, as well as perform different sort of testings and whatnot. And the local area around BUET is basically tailor made to make sure the students have a much more comfortable life. Given that there are a lot of dorms here for both teachers and students alike, so you might find markets and bazaars where students and teachers alike can buy their daily groceries. And there are shops and stationeries where students can go and buy their academic essentials. But other than that, there’s nothing much to do. It’s mostly a combination of an academic and residential area. As for whether it’s a good place to work, I personally think so. BUET is in my opinion the best engineering university in Bangladesh and the most brightest minds in Bangladesh study in BUET. So if you’re a teacher that wants a challenge teaching the brightest minds, BUET is your place to go. Thank you.
