One advertisement that really sticks in my mind, and I absolutely dislike, is an Indian commercial. It was for a digestive enzyme, and the main actor, the lead promoting the product, was using it to highlight the need for women's education, particularly in rural areas of the Indian community. The ad emphasized how women, especially girls, are often denied access to education, even being discriminated against compared to boys. Instead of focusing on the digestive enzyme itself, its benefits, or its ingredients, the ad chose to address this social issue, which is a very real and serious problem in India. Many girls are deprived of education because their parents believe that they will eventually marry and become someone else's wife, leaving their own parents behind. This misconception, unfortunately, is still prevalent in rural India, though it's less common in urban areas. This issue, sadly, is not unique to India; it's a problem in Nepal as well. However, the advertisement itself felt completely disconnected. There was no logical link between the digestive enzyme and the social message. The lead actor was promoting a product meant for digestion while simultaneously advocating for a social cause. This felt completely irrelevant and jarring. Whenever this ad comes on television, I immediately switch channels because I find it so distasteful. It's a prime example of an advertisement that misses the mark and fails to connect with its audience.
Actual audio transcript (What native speakers are likely to hear):

Well, one of the advertisement which I remember and I don’t like is an indian advertisement. The advertisement was about some kind of digestive enzyme. And uh, the main actor, the lead actor promoting the product was glorifying that the w must be engaged in education. Especially in the ruler village of the indian community. Women are deprived of education. Even a girl child is distinguished, uh, in comparison to boys in terms of education. And uh, rather than being talking about the digestive enzyme and the benefit it provides, the ingredients that are put into it. Taking such kind of social topic, uh, which has got different, uh or uh. Which I have caught, uh, a deep uh, sense of meaning in it. Because you see, it’s a very uh, big problem in India. It’s a serious problem, actually, because a lot of girls, uh, are deprived from the education. They aren’t allowed to go to school. The parents think that one day the girl’s ey would marry and, uh, be wife of some else men. And she wouldn’t look after her parents. So that’s the biggest myth that still prevails in the rulural India. So those such kind of myths aren’t usually, uh, uh, usually popular in the urban areas. We can see it pretty common in the rural areas. And this is also a problem in our society, in the nep society also, uh, this problem still prevails. However, talking about the advertisement. The advertisement didn’t have any kind of a uh, sense or any kind of a linkage. Though, uh, it didn’t have any kind of a uh, connection. Um, the lead actor was promoting some, uh, solutions, uh, or digive digestive enzymes. Uh, in some kind of a social context. So I find it totally irrelevant. And I hate it. Whenever it, uh, comes in the television, whenever I have to watch it, I just turn’off the tv because I don’t like it. And uh, yes, that’s the reason I don’t like it.
