Nowadays, I don't watch much TV because of the internet. I'm more interested in YouTube than traditional television. I love watching videos on my laptop using the internet because I have the ability to pause the video if I need to go somewhere. I can also skip parts I'm not interested in, which isn't possible with TV. And the advantage of YouTube is that there are plenty of videos related to science about specific topics. Recently, I watched a video about astronomy, specifically about our solar system. In my childhood, I used to wonder why the planets, moons, and asteroids in our solar system never collide with the sun. I thought, why do they have such a low gravitational force compared to the sun, which is thousands or millions of times greater than that of smaller objects? I wondered why they didn't collide with each other. In the video, a guy was talking about this very topic. He explained that our sun and planets aren't actually stable. While we revolve around the sun, the sun itself isn't stationary. It's actually circulating around the center of our galaxy. This was so interesting to me. We're all traveling at a speed equivalent to 17,000 kilometers per second. Just one second ago, we passed 17,000 kilometers, and we continue to do so. This constant motion creates centrifugal and centripetal forces. The high speed is the reason we never collide with the sun. It was a very interesting and insightful video.
