I'd like to talk about a traditional building from my hometown called Bayleo. Bayleo is a heritage building from Maluku province, and many villages in the region have one. It's an important part of our cultural heritage. However, I'm particularly fond of one located on a small island called Haruku, in the eastern part of the city center. I love this Bayleo because it's remarkably well-preserved, retaining its original shape and structure. It's situated near a mosque, and its construction is a beautiful blend of natural materials. The building is primarily made of wood, with a stone floor and rock foundations. I believe it was built during the colonial era, as its design incorporates both wood and concrete. Concrete was introduced to the region by the Dutch, so this suggests a colonial influence. The most fascinating aspect of this Bayleo is its continued use as a meeting place. Each village has its own unique culture, and these buildings serve as gathering spots for discussions about traditions, customs, and important matters. It's a testament to the enduring value of these structures and their role in preserving the cultural heritage of the region.
