My friend Camilla has a habit that I truly admire. She reads every single day, no matter how busy she is. She always carries a book with her and even if she has only 10 minutes free, she uses the time to read. I first noticed this habit earlier this year, when we were preparing for our exams. exams. While most of us spend our breaks on our phones, Camilla always opened her book and calmly continued reading. Over time I realized that this wasn’t just something she did occasionally. It was a real daily writing for her. I want to develop this habit because I know how beneficial regular reading can be. Camilla’s reading has not simply improved her vocabulary, her grammar and even her speaking skills. She often uses interesting expressions that she learned from books and I can see how it has boosted her confidence. Personally, I sometimes feel that I don’t read enough, especially in English, and because of that I miss many opportunities to grow. When I look at Tamila, I understand how powerful a simple habit can be. If you follow it consistently, to develop this habit, I plan to start with small and realistic steps. For example, I want to read at least 10 or 15 minutes every evening before going to bed. I am also thinking of choosing books that I genuinely enjoy, so reading feels relaxing rather than like homework. Another thing I want to try is keeping a list of new words from each chapter. Just like Camilla does, I believe that if I stay consistent and make reading a natural part of my day, I will slowly build the same strong habit she has.
