Well, I’d like to talk about an, um, Apple produced tv series called Silo. The series was created by Graham Yost and stars Rebecca, uh, Ferguson and Haret Walter, ah, among other talented actors and actresses. The series is based on a treologyy of novels called wool, shift and dust, written by author Hugh Howie. Um, I watched it back in 2021 when it was first streamed after hearing about it from a friend of mine. The silu is set in a distystobian future where a community lives in a silo underground, consisting of around 144 floors, centuries after an apocalyptic event destroyed life on earth, um, as the story unfolds, we gain deep knowledge and deep understanding of what it is like to live your entire life underground, never exposed to sun, natural air, or sk. This series also depicts, um, a, um, society where rigid hierarchies are followed by the, uh, inhabitants of the silo. Um, uh, one particularly primitive aspect is there criminal justice, which involves banishing criminals outside the silo, letting them die from the toxic air, um, uh, of the earth’s surface. Besides the scenario graphics and the fantastic artistic elements, what really stands out to me about the series is the different philosophical strands embedded in the story. It is a thought provoking work, leaving the audience with so many existential questions to ponder after watching it. It encourages viewers to contemplate the morality of many aspects of our world, with the most prominent question being whether we should aspire, uh, to inquire and know what is beyond our vision and what we have, um, been.
