Yes, in general, I prefer to send a message to someone rather than call. The reason is that many times I call someone, but he or she cannot respond, and maybe he or she calls me back after some hours. By that time, I'm busy. For this reason, I prefer a message because I send it, and when the person I sent it to has enough time, he or she can respond.
