Well, it is crucial to learn a second language. This is because it not only enables you to expand your creativity and cognitive skills, but it also allows you to communicate with others in case the people you are interacting with do not understand your first language. I would say that it is better than only knowing your first language because math and science sometimes might not be understood by others, especially when you go to a new place and need help or want to socialize. So, I would say that it is very vital as a valuable skill.
