Yeah, I definitely think it is a possibility, but I also think that it mostly depends on the local government and how they manage tourists in the city. For example, here in Cusco, although tourism is not so well managed, I think that the ruins of Machu Picchu are very carefully protected because they try to safeguard the animals and the local communities there.
