In my opinion, although staying calm or being polite during an argument sounds good in theory, it's actually a really hard thing to do, especially when the other person is very angry. Polite people start to say things that come to their mind when they are angry. Personally, I think controlling ourselves in that moment is a skill and an ability that not everyone has, but it's still important and possible to calm ourselves down using techniques like taking deep breaths. It helps to slow down, and we should try as much as possible to avoid using bad or hurtful words that insult and damage the other person's emotions. There is always a line that we should not cross, no matter how angry or upset we are.
