So here's the unforgettable story about Cristiano Ronaldo and Charles Schroggel and the meal that changed his life forever, which I heard from a friend of mine. When Ronaldo was 12, he was forced to leave his family in Madeira because they were in an impoverished situation, so he left to make money for them. He came to the Sporting Lisbon Academy, and instead of a glamorous story about how a football legend was born there, it was about Ronaldo's struggles. He was bullied for his slim body and his accent. People always called him a crybaby, and his family couldn't afford to buy food because his mother was a cook and his father used to be a war hero but struggled with alcoholism. Ronaldo's physicality was so low that even the doctor doubted he could pass the test to enter the academy. He always had to search for food every day, and there was a time when three staff members from Sporting Lisbon recognized him in McDonald's, seeing him starving. They offered him food to make him feel full. They realized he was struggling, so for about three months, they kept giving him free food so he could reach his full potential. Ronaldo responded to this kindness in a legendary way. He kept training every day until his feet bled.
