Despite the wide perception of higher education as indispensable for students to gain diverse qualifications, some people argue that it's not quite essential for a variety of reasons. Firstly, there are several benefits of qualifications gained by staying at school until 18. For example, having a wealth of information regarding biology is a prerequisite to becoming a doctor, or mastering every aspect of math and each skill in it is also a crucial factor that enables you to become an engineer. So it's not optional for some people. That being said, other students don't really aspire to become a doctor or engineer, or even pursue disciplines that require academic knowledge. For example, becoming a hairdresser, painter, or artist doesn't really require you to immerse yourself in your studies, and those qualifications may not be of great use to them. Therefore, they take an alternative path by dropping out of school before 18, which could be wasteful for them. In conclusion, it's undeniable that education carries different privileges and gives those who complete their education a competitive advantage. However, it's not really about the path each student chooses, but about how they work towards their goals.
