I don't think it's a good idea for people to alter their appearance by using extreme methods like surgery because surgery is very expensive. For example, a friend of mine decided to have surgery because he was not confident in his appearance. In order to afford the surgery, he had to save money for years by buying fewer items and eating less food. During that time, he didn't feel good about his life. Although he succeeded in having surgery to alter his appearance, he didn't feel happy afterward.
