I think grandparents play a secondary caregiver role for kids in my country. For example, in Malaysia, my home country, parents are usually very busy with their work schedules and leave their children at their parents' place for the grandparents to take care of them. Additionally, grandparents have a better role in giving the children what they want, and they tend to pamper them much more than the children's parents. So, I would say that grandparents give a little too much love to their grandchildren, and they can also play a good caregiver role.
