I am of the strong opinion that governments have a crucial role to play in moderating information that's being spread and proliferated online. Governments can use a variety of tools and resources readily available to them to ensure that misinformation and inaccurate sources are constantly checked, verified, and blacklisted. They can also spread social awareness articles and literacy programs for specific topics that cater to a host of different information and people, ensuring that individuals can make rational and logical choices when it comes to decisions. At the end of the day, I believe the government is a significant factor that directly impacts how information is controlled, motivated, and eventually analyzed by the general population, leading to better societal outcomes.
