I would contend that this phenomenon boils down to two main reasons corresponding to different groups of people. The first group consists of those who detest technology and possess limited digital literacy. You could call them technophobes. For them, instead of immersing themselves in the virtual world, they seek more authentic value in real life, characterized by face-to-face interaction with their friends and some physical or traditional activities at a nearby park. So I think this is obvious, right? However, for the second group, there are many people who initially get excited about their digital devices and mobile apps. But as time goes on, it kind of engenders a sense of digital fatigue or saturation because they constantly use their mobile phones to avoid boredom. They start to feel sick of it. I think it's pretty common, especially for game addicts. Up to a certain point, they start to feel that those games no longer capture their interest, which leads them to switch to other new and novel activities.

You could call them technophobes as well, I mean for them instead of immersing themselves in the virtual world, they want to seek more authentic value in real life, characterized by face-to-face interaction with their friends and some physical or traditional activities at a park nearby. So I think this is obvious, right? However, for the second group, I would say there are many people who initially get encouraged in their digital devices and mobile apps. But as time flies, it kind of engenders a sense of digital fatigue over saturation because they constantly use their mobile phones to avoid. They start to feel sick. So I think it’s pretty common, especially for game addicts, up to a certain point they start to feel both of those games and those games no longer capture their interests which leads them to switch to other new and novel activities.
