As a person who lives in a capital, I've noticed the real and large increase in the size of my own city. I relate the situation to the fact that the overall majority of citizens in my country is growing each year. It's a fact that you cannot ignore, and because of that, the size of the city is rising as well. Also, another reason is related to the growing demand for houses and apartments in the cities, especially if it's a capital, because most modern people prefer to live in a big place with more opportunities to grow. There's nothing wrong with it. If you see your city growing, it's just a natural process that you can't really affect.
