People can commit crimes for various reasons. I think the first reason is probably related to poverty and unemployment. In a society where everything needs to be bought with money, people tend to participate in criminal activities to support themselves. Due to financial disparities and a lack of job opportunities, they may engage in criminal behaviors, like robbery and theft, to support themselves when there is no one to help them, like their family or friends.
