The hijab is a traditional hat covering worn by many muslim women as a symbol of medancy and faith. For other women who freely choose to wear it, the hijab can be a powerful expression of identity and religious connotants. However, when it comes to children, especially young girls, the situation is different. One of the main reasons why children should be required to wear the hijab is that they are not capable of making such serious personal decisions. Religious beliefs should be a matter of personal choice and children need time to understand their faith and form of their own opinion. Forcing them to wear the hijab at a young age may prevent them from developing a true independence connecting with their religion.
