is there any justification for continuing to keep animals in captivity?

I think the only available reason to keep animals in captivity is to protect them from ceasing to exist, since many species are dying out. Scientists may keep them just to increase their population. However, any other reasons aren't really convincing to me because I believe that every creature deserves to live in its environment.
