Overall, young people bought more rock and pop type of music, while the older people prefer more classical type of music, jazz was popular in all age groups, but not the most popular.
People aged 16-22 bought the most rock and pop music. Rock sales were just under 5 million, and pop music sales around 4 million. Jazz and classical were much lower in this group.
In the 23-31 age group, rock was a still the most popular around 4.5 million, but sales slightly dropped while the Pop, Jazz, and classical were around 2-3 million.
For older group of people, rock and pop sales significantly continued to fall. However, classical music sales increased and became more popular, especially for people over the 58, who bought about more then 4 million classical recordings
