In 1975, petrol was leading the spending rate of UK citizens with 36%, in the second there was furniture with 32% percent, and restaurants were third with 25% of the UK spending. At last position but not worth one was computers with 7%.
However, by 2000, spending priorities had shifted dramatically. Cars became the primary area of expenditure with 43%, while the share of spending on petrol dropped drastically to just 8%. Restaurants and furniture decreased to 14% and 8%. But computers increased to 12%, while food was 14% and books were the least one, representing 1%.
