The first chart illustrates educational information among certain age groups in Scotland’s capital, Glasgow, in a single year (2010), and the second chart compares levels of education by gender.
Overall, it is clear that the 25-36 age group has more university degrees compared to other age groups, especially the 75+ age group; 25-36 has more than three times as many certificates as 75+ (76% as opposed to 25%). Likewise, 75+ has far more individuals with no qualifications as opposed to other age groups. Furthermore, men’s and women’s statistics are equal to each other.
In terms of no qualifications and school certificates, the age groups from 16-24 to 35-50 are equal, with the exception of 24-35 (9% each and 20% respectively). The 16-24 and 35-50 age groups have the same percentage of university degrees, as opposed to 24-35 (71% compared to 76%). The 50-75 age group has twice as many university degrees as the 75+ age group (50% compared to 25%). The 75+ age group has the fewest school certificates, with 3%.
In contrast, women’s and men’s school certificates were the same (33% each). Women’s no qualifications were slightly more than men’s (38% and 35% respectively). Meanwhile, men’s university degrees were far more than women’s over the entire period.
