The map illustrates changes that took place in the village of Chorleywood from 1868 to 1994.
Overall, the village underwent significant transformation, with development occurring along the main road, the railway and a new motorway over four different periods.. The development consisted of the addition of new areas and new transportation facilities.
From 1868 to 1922, there were two main roads, one running from the south to the east and the other from the south to the northwest of the village. In the centre of the village was Chorleywood Park and Golf Course. A new railway was built in 1909, while from 1883 to 1922, a new Chorleywood Station was constructed at the intersection of the railway and the main road running from the south to the northwest.
Turning to the remaining periods, from 1922 to 1970, two new residential areas were located on opposite sides of the station and below the railway. In 1970, a new motorway was constructed, crossing the railway and the main road running from the south to the east, creating a rectangular area. Between 1970 and 1994, two new areas were situated at the intersection of the motorway and the main road running from the south to the east, while three additional sections were positioned around the intersection of the motorway and the railway.
