The table below illustrate consumer spending on diffirent iteims in 5 countries ( Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Turkey) in 2002.
Overall, what stands out from the table is that the Turkey and Ireland recorded the highest percentage of spending while other countries like Sweden presented less percentage of expenditure.
In terms of food drink and tabaccos, consumers in Turkey spend 32.14%, Ireland followed closely with 28.91%. Spain and Itally spent slightly less at 18.80% and 16.36% while Sweden was the lowest one with 15.77%
For clothing and footwear, Italy showed the biggest spendings with 9%, Turkey was at second place accounting for 6.63%. Spain and Ireland lost to Turkey by a small margin at 6.51% and 6.43%. However, Sweden again had the lowest sales with 5.40%.
Regarding leisure and education, Turkey again had the highest percentage of sales standing at 4.35%, Sweden and Italy was sligtly less than Turkey at 3.22% and 3.20%. Ireland spent 1% less than Sweden and Italy with 2.21% and the country with the lowest spendings was Spain at 1.98.
