Consuimg sweet food cause the production of acid in the mouth that results into tooth decay

Overall, the acid levels go higher in the mouth when we consume sugar or honey. The ph falls significantly as we eat sugar and honey and takes several minutes to get back to normal.

Cane sugar demostractes the largest dip, where the ph falls below ph 4 at the 5 minute mark. It then riseases at a steady pace between 5 to 30 minute range and cross the safe limit above which the decay is unlikely to occure.

In case of fruit sugar and honey, they show a lower drop then cane sugar, where honey goes around ph 5 and fruit sugar goes around ph 4 around the 5 minute mark similar to cane sugar. Honey shows an rapid increase in the ph level after a few minutes and reaches ph 7 around the 25 minute mark. Fruit sugar also shows an steady rise in the ph level near the 20 minute point and then gets to ph 7 at the 35 minute mark.
