The line chart illustrates the household recycling rates in three European countries: the UK, France, and Germany over a 10-year period from 2005 to 2015.
Overall, the figures for two of the three countries saw an upward trend, with the United Kingdom becoming the leader at the end. Of particular note, Germany lagged significantly behind the others in all of the years.
Focusing on the largest first, the United Kingdom stood at around 38% in 2005. Then, this number experienced a steady upward trend to 40% in 2007 and faced a significant skyrocket to 54% in 2011, rising continuously. Germany, meanwhile, started out at a lower point: roughly 20%. This household rate increased significantly in 2011 to 48%, after which it remained relatively stable.
France, in contrast, recorded a smaller figure. The percentage of household recycling in France started at a higher point: roughly 50% and experienced a dramatic decline in 2007, shrinking continuously until 2013. Then, this figure started rising significantly to 40%, but it still remained the lowest one.
