The graph illustrates radio listeners and television watchers during the day in the UK in 1992.
Overall, television was the most watched in the evening, whereas users listened to the radio more in the morning. It is also evident that both media were least used in the early morning.
In terms of radio listening, the figure peaked at approximately 9 p.m., when over 25% of the UK population was listening to the radio. Afterwards, this figure declined steadily. In the afternoon, both television and radio were used almost equally with less than 5% difference. From this point onward, people’s preferences change and they tend to watch television more. Consequently, the proportion of television watchers soared and reached its maximum at 8 p.m. when more than 45% of citizens turned it on.
Furthermore, only a few people used these media after midnight. At 2 a.m. roughly 1% of the population used both media, and proportion of radio listeners marginally increased at 6 a.m. In contrast, no one watched television at 6 a.m.
