Dear Mr. Johnson,
I hope this letter find you in great health. As we are approaching the termination date of our lease contract, I am writing to propose an extension to the timeline we originally agreed upon for a further six months. I am making this request due to some changes that have unexpectedly been imposed on my work visa.
As you know, the terms of our prior agreement covered the period between January 1, 2024 and June 30, 2024. Considering the new circumstances of my stay in your country, I would like to renew my lease for the subsequent six months, thus extending my residence until December 29, 2024. I have previously consulted a local real state agent and he has informed me of a 10% augmentation in the average rental value of the apartments in the vicinity. Therefore, I am willing to increase my monthly payment by the same amount, taking the total sum of my rent to CAD 2,500.
As mentioned before, I have been approached by my university’s dean of students to prolong working on my current project for the next six months to achieve optimum results. However, I have wavered my consent to make sure I would be able to keep my current residence.
Upon agreeing to extend my lease period, I have an additional request. As you are fully aware, we are on the brink of summer and it is environmentally and economically prudent to keep the windows open to freshen the air instead of using air conditioning. However, this has been rendered impossible since the windows of my apartment lack protective netting which would prevent the insects from flying in. I would like to ask for your consent to have a metal mesh fitted to the windows which would be adhered to the window panes permanently. This addition can also facilitate the lives of future tenants. I sincerely hope we can reach an agreement on these matters.
All the best,
Elham Naseri
