The given bar chart represents the proportion of 2 genders who purchased eight types of gadgets in the UK in 2013. From an overall perspective, women showed a stronger interest in home automation and safety gadgets, while men attracted more to entertainment-related products.
Looking at the first category of gadgets, women generally preferred them more. Around 60% of programmable thermostat buyers were female, compared to about 30% of men. A much wider gap can be seen in security cameras, where 9 of 10 customers were women, while approximately 25% were male buyers. Wireless home security also had a greater number of women, with roughly 60%, and men accounted for about a third. The only item was chosen more by men was energy management system, representing around 60%, versus approximately 15% less of women customers (45%).
Regarding the remaining gadgets, nearly 4 in 5 buyers of wireless home audio system were male, slightly more than the share of women (40%). The difference was more noticeable in home movie theatres, with about 60% of users being men, roughly triple the number of women. Outdoor speaker system followed a similar trend, where male buyers making up around 40% and women only nearly 20%. The only exception was programmable vacuum, where female customers represented about 40%, approximately 7% more than their counterpart.
