The diagram illustrates the stages of how storm water is reused in an Australia city.
Overall, there are five steps, beginning from collecting rainwater and ending with clean water being pumped in houses.
First of all, when it rains, rainwater is collected from drains, which is installed along the house’s wall and runs to a bigger central tube beneath the ground. Then, this tube leads to a water recycling plant that helps remove unwanted substances through a four steps process. Plastic and rubbish are the biggest part to remove first, after that, small particles are eliminated.
Following by making sure the water doesn’t contain bacteria and viruses. Before being in the water storage, the plant gets rid of molecules and salt. Finally, what is left is treated with a chemical called chlorine to make sure that it is safe to be used. The water after being treated will be contained in a water tank and pumped into household needs.
