The latter began at just over 5000 in 2004 and stayed unchanged in 2005 before it rose slowly between 2005 and 2008, ending 10000 in 2008.
Specifically, the number of Chinese applicants stood at 27000 in 2004. Then, it decreased to 18000 in 2006 and remain unchanged in 2007 before it dropped slowly to 15000 in 2008. The number of Russian applicants began at around 2500 and remain unchanged throughout the period, however, it experienced some fluctuations during the period.
