This map shows how the floor plan of a building changed over a large period of time from 1958 to present. It started as an office, after 27 years it became an apartment and begining from 2001 it is a flower shop.
Overall, the only room that remained consistent in its location throughout the years is the kitchen. Another detail which can be noticed is the decrease in the number of rooms. The office had 7 rooms, while the apartment and flower shop had 5 and 4 respectively.
Firstly, let’s compare the changes which happened between 1984 and 1985. In place of the manager’s office, there appeared an enlarged kitchen and one of the bedrooms. The meeting room and Assistant’s office were replaced by the living room, and instead of just a toilet, a full bathroom with a shower was built.
Secondly, when comparing the transformation from an appartment to a flower shop, which happend in 2001, the most noticeable thing is the amount of freed up space. This substantial change is most likely for displaying or storing the flowers, as can be seen in the floor plan. Furthermore, the shop retained no rooms – except for the kitchen – that were characteristic of a residential apartment.
