The bar chart illustrates the number of employed people in Australia, which has been divided into two subgroups: job type and sex, in the last year.
Of the seven presented occupations in the chart, only two sectors are occupied by a large number of women. The clerical sector (with almost a million women employed), and the professionals sector, where there are 700,000 women.
Meanwhile, the majority of men are working as tradespeople, with 900,000 of them found in this sector. It is closely followed by the clerical sector at almost 900,000. A considerable amount given that women only surpassed their number by a hundred thousand. This is also true in the number of men in the professional field, with women just barely surpassing them by 50,000.
As for the sectors with the lowest number of men and women employed; the former has the lowest number employed as laborers (numbering at only 400,000) compared to the latter having the lowest number of employment in both the trade and production industries (both numbering at only a hundred thousand each).
Overall, the chart portrays a stark difference in the total amount of men and women in the respective job types presented. There is a disproportionate number of men in all of the sectors, wherein they are more commonly employed in comparison to their female counterparts. Furthermore, only two sectors are dominated by a majority of women.
