The number of students, which lived in room in a shared house or rented a flat with other students, increased considerably during the whole period. Their number was 35 percent at the beginning of 1960, then a decade later number of students rose slightly, reaching the amount of 40 percent of all individuals, after that renting a room had become the most popular type of accommodation between students, so it plummeted in 1980, and kept rising all the time after that, reached the peak of 70 percent in 2000. The number of some students, who prefer to live in students hall of residence, fluctuated throughout the while period, reaching the a high of 20 percent of all students twice: in 1970 and in 1990.
Some families did not mind the students living with them, therefore there was over 35 percent of students that lived with a host family. But their number decreased all over the period, reaching the lowest point of 5 percent in 2000. The number of undergraduates, that lived with their own families dropped from 15 percent to 10 during the first 2 decades, then remained stabled from 1980 to 1990, before grow again in 2000, reaching the number of 13 percent of all students.
Overall the most noticeable changes involved the number of students, who rented a flat or room in a shared house with other students and the number of undergraduates, that lived with a host family. That shows that students might feel more comfortable living with people of approximately the same age and some students prefer to live wiht their relatives.
