The line graph illustrates the proportion of households in three different continents – Asia, Europe and America – over a 10-year period from 2000 to 2020.
Overall, Asia showed the greatest increase, overtook both Europe and America, while America’s percentage was lower than the other continents throughout the period.
Firstly, Asia experienced dramatic rise. From initial figure 30% which was lower than the other continents, it increased sharply to reach a peak of 55% by the middle of the period. Despite this, the figure surged considerably roughly to 70%, by 2020.
By contrast, America increased gradually from 40% to approximately 44%, by 2015. On the other hand, the figure soared minimally to 45%, by the end of the period. In comparison, despite Europe’s slight surge to 51% from 50%, it started declining for 6%, to around 45%.
