The two pie charts show the number of vehicles being used in the Netherlands in 1975 and 2000. The data catagorized into four main transportation types: cars, trains, bicycle, dan other public transport, expressed as proportion of total journey.
The most striking trend is the exponential growth of car from 1975 to 2000, which completely be the highest among the other vehicles. While in 1975, cars, trains, and bicycle had the same proportion of transportation mode, approximately 30% on each types. Then, cars experienced a dramatic rise until 75% by 2000.
On contrast, as many people travelled by train in 1975, it decreased until 20%. This phenomenon also happened for bicycle, from 30% in 1975, it significantly dropped until 10% in 2000. However, the contribution of other public transportation remained consistently low either in 1975 or 2000, reaching only around 5%. This clearly demonstrated that dominance of private car usage in Netherland in that two period of time.
