The diagram illustrate the layout of a public library 20 years ago and now it has been redesigned 20 years later. overall the library has gone a significance difference from 20 years ago, including some traditional facilities being changed by modern equipment.
20 years ago the library had complicated design with two tables in the main area and lack of comfort, on the up left side there were some room, including CDs, videos, computer games, and reading room that provide newspaper and magazines, between the room there was a section that provide adult fiction books. on the opposite side Children’s books room was located, on the below right corner enquiry desk room including tickets, book returns, and etc was located, between them there was a section that provide adult non fiction books.
Meanwhile, the modern layout provide towards technology, comfort, , leisure, and shift towards more community activities. The CDs and computer games room has been replaced by story telling and children’s fiction books room that include sofa for the comfort also they expand the room. The reading room has been removed and changed to computer room. All reference books are grouped in the central left area. On the right side, the enquiry desk has been replaced by an information desk alongside self service machines. Additionally they provide new facilities, such as a cafe and a new lecture room have been introduced, making more positive vibe on the environment.
In conclusion, the public library has changed from an old school traditional reading space into a good environment multi space that enhance technology, community service, and leisure.
